I have for sale an American Flyer rail car truck with a knuckle coupler, made by LTI. This is a special truck for use with LTI TTUX / T.T.U.X. tandem flat cars, models 6-48493, 6-48511, and several others. I've removed this from a TTUX tandem flat car car which I've converted to link coupler trucks. This truck is a normal LTI truck with a brass bushing in the mounting hole to reduce the hole diameter to 5/32" from 3/16". See pics. I've listed this truck as "Like New". It shows no run time and is probably "New" as the eBay seller listed the source car as "New", but I can't vouch for that. Details ... frame is sheet steel, sides are sintered metal, knuckle coupler is riveted on instead of crimped in, knuckle coupler release is spring loaded, mounting hole is 5/32". There are several varieties of AF knuckle trucks, and this variety has the sides top boss riveted onto the frame. This design is much better than the standard AF knuckle trucks which have sides staked onto the frames. For these trucks I've ensured the sides are firmly attached to the frame, all 4 wheels sit on the rails, sides are plumb to the frame. I've set the gauge to 0.86", flange root to flange root.
Side note -- A TTUX tandem flat car can be split apart to operate as 2 separate cars. To do this you would need 2 trucks with 1/8" mounting holes and some shim washers. But, you would also need the very special mounting shoulder screws which have about a 1/4" shoulder and are metric threaded 2.5mm x 0.45mm. Interesting, this screw has a 3/16" hex head so it is a real mongrel of metric and English sizes. You could make do with a regular 2.5mm x 0.45mm machine screw and mount the screw with Loctite. Those screws are not easy to obtain but can be found for about in a pack of 100.
