A pretty exclusive bottle with the
'GOLD DANDRUFF CURE'
embossing.    Just the fact that it says "CURE" on it, puts it into the COLLECTING ALL CURES category, a category of collecting in itself.   In  looking this bottle up in the number one reference book on antique hair preparation bottles, we find no other information on it from the author except that he had seen one at a bottle show many years ago.   So this is a good indicator of the rarity of the bottle.   Also a nice looking bottle with the long, tall neck and the beautiful deep
purple amethyst color.   The beautiful purple amethyst color of this bottle is the result of being made with manganese in the glass, a mineral that was pulverized and added to vats of liquid glass that acted as a decolorizing agent to turn naturally aqua-colored glass into a pure crystal clear colorless glass.  Exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, triggers a chemical reaction and the manganese oxidizes and turns a wonderful amethyst color.  With few exceptions, only glass made before 1914 will turn purple.  Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make this a great looking bottle,
but it also authenticates it as being truly antique!
Colored hair bottles are one of the most beautiful categories of antique bottles to collect as they come in a vast array of shapes and colors.   This purple colored one would complement any string of colored hair bottles, especially when displayed in a well lit room or with sun streaming through it in a window
