"Embroidered Fans" - Women's Haori Kimono Jacket
This is a vintage Japanese semi-formal kimono jacket that features a colorful series of folding fans (called
sens
in Japanese) across the back. Each fan is embroidered with satin stitches in a bright, bold, colorful palette.
Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
All of the stitching is hidden (since it was hand-sewn) so technically these haori jackets are reversible. Sometimes the lining is as pretty as the outer jacket!
